Little Heroes
Little Heroes is committed to creating a safe and inclusive yard; with clear boundaries and expectations. School coaches lead games during recess time and ensure that all students are receiving an opportunity at a fun and inclusive recess. We select students to become Playground Heroes, overseeing the recess activities of their grade level and younger peers. Our peer mentorship program allows students to understand what it means to be a future leader, and to become a valuable mentor to other students. Additionally, Little Heroes builds teams to compete in our leagues and tournaments. These competitive events provide students with an opportunity to thrive in a team environment, to build commonalities with students, create pride and ownership in their school, and allow students to understand the proper way to both win and lose. Each class also gets the opportunity to have one-on-one fun sessions with their coach. These gametimes provide an opportunity to get students moving while promoting healthy communication and team building.

Big Hearts. Big Dreams. Little Heroes.
Middle School Sports
At Adelante II, we offer a variety of after school sports for middle school students only. This year we will offer Cross-Country, Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ Basketball, Girls and Boys Soccer, Girls and Boys Volleyball, and Girls and Boys Flag Football. We encourage everyone to try out for any or multiple sports throughout the year to compete against other schools in the East Side Athletic League.
Copita
Every year, Adelante II competes in the Alum Rock School District’s soccer tournament. This tournament is for elementary co-ed students (grades 3-5) and girls’ and boys’ soccer teams for middle school. This year the plan is to invite other schools from other districts to compete in a Super Copita Tournament sponsored by Telemundo and ARUSD. The tournament is held during the spring.
Rock the Court
"Rock the Court" is Alum Rock Union School District's annual basketball tournament, designed as a districtwide championship event for ARUSD middle school student-athletes. It functions as a bracketed tournament, with boys and girls' divisions, where schools compete head-to-head to be crowned district champions, with an emphasis on athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Rock the Court 2026 will be held January 23-25 (as posted by ARUSD on their website). Each team will play a total of 4 games. The top two teams from each division (boys and girls) will face each other in the finals.
